CONTEST RULES:

♦ Submitted lesson plans should focus on modern China for grades 6 through 12, on any subject.

♦ Your lesson plan must include goals/objectives, step-by-step instructions, student activities, hand-outs, and resources.

♦ You agree that your lesson plan submission can be shared on the 1990 Institute’s websites.

Calling for all educators! We’re looking for outstanding lesson plans that help students understand modern China.China’s rapid rise to a global economic power constitutes one of the great historical events of our time. And yet, in the United States, many of our middle and high schools do not have today’s modern China as part of their standard curriculum.

One way for teachers to include modern China into their curriculum quickly is to provide lesson plans that teacher can use immediately in their classrooms.

Margaret Liu-Collins, a board member of the 1990 Institute, is funding our inaugural Margaret Liu-Collins Award for Excellence In Teaching to encourage and reward the creation and sharing of rich lesson materials focused on modern China. A total of $5000 will be giving out, with a $1000 Grand Prize for the best lesson plan, plus several 1st place and honorable mentions.

This Lesson Plan Contest is open to all public or independent U.S. middle and high school teachers. The lesson plan must be submitted by September 30th, 2015, in order to be considered.
