Summary | Mr. Sheehan recounts three stages of the China-Silicon Valley relationship, from China’s intiial dependence on Silicon Valley’s innovative techonology, to the emergence of competitive Chinese technology companies, to China’s recent internet ecosystem boom. In doing so, Mr. Sheehan emphasizes the paradox of the new paradigm: “While trans-Pacific flows of people, money and ideas have never been greater, technology companies and the internet itself remains starkly divided by national boundaries.”
