The Development of Education Administration System in China

Summary China has a long history of education and its educational administration system has evolved with the development of China’s society, politics and economy. The Constitution and The Educational Law of China make legal provisions on the administrative system of education. The Ministry of Education (MOE) acts as the State Council’s executive body in charge of education. The basic functions of local education administrative institutions are to implement the decisions of MOE. China aims to further decentralize its education system in order to improve public education services and better define the responsibilities of governments at all levels.
